Fire-Up Conference 2016 – In The Books

March 1, 2016 by Tim Price Leave a Comment

#FireUpLegacy.

In the books as far as the event goes.  The weekend is finished.  Everyone is back home and hopefully rested up by now.  It was really an incredible 20th year for Fire-Up, a Sr. High Discipleship weekend that has been hosted in this very room each year since 1997.

People celebrated the milestone, students experienced Christ, there was tons and energy and fun and everyone is looking forward to next year.

But our confident hope is that the legacy will continue in the lives of these students and adults who were here at Fire-Up 2016 in Troy, IL.

More than tradition, we’re looking for transformation.  Prayers are being lifted up for this generation of students to not only follow Christ, but to grow in him, build their lives on him and remain faithful to Jesus and his church all of their lives.

There are so many people that could be thanked from this weekend.  From the hospitality teams, to the core team to the kitchen crews, the tech and video team, the Harvest Band, the speaker and leaders, the registration teams, the decoration team, the photography and social media team, to the host families, the security team, Subway, the young adult leaders, the promotions team, the mission tables, the entertainment, the leaders who brought students and to the students themselves.  Thank you all for being a part of Fire-Up 2016.  Take a quick look at this video – twenty years in about a minute.

We want to invite your church to attend the next Fire-Up Conference in Troy, IL!

Renovate 2016 Wrap Up

February 24, 2016 by Tim Price 1,164 Comments

Renovate Conference in East Moline has come and gone for 2016!  It was a great weekend and we appreciated getting connected with all the students and groups in attendance!

renonvate 2016A big thanks to Mike Womer for being the weekend speaker!  Great job helping to set the stage for God to be at work in the hearts of students.  The operation game, the Lego Principle and the baggage story all help serve the purpose of God doing a renovating work on our hearts.

Shout out to Matt Young and Christ UMC for their awesome hospitality as the hosting church!  What a great set up, great food and we appreciated your part.

Thanks to the pastors and leaders who brought students for the weekend.  We enjoyed meeting you.

We praise God for the work that was done.  We’re always thankful for times when students can pull away and hear from God’s voice.  I’m thankful for those students who responded to His call.  We give God glory!

Summer Team 2016

February 18, 2016 by Tim Price 1 Comment

harvest summer team 1170 blue

Would you be interested in joining me in music and worship leadership this summer?

tim price 14a2My name is Tim Price and for twenty summers, I have led a Harvest Ministry Team serving in camps and youth events all around Illinois.  It began during the summers while I was in college. I enjoyed playing guitar, leading worship and serving in ministry at youth camps and ministry events all over the Midwest. While attending Asbury Seminary I sensed God’s call to continue in this ministry.  As this ministry of Harvest has continued each summer, I have learned what a great experience it is for any ministry minded young adult musician.

Tremendous ministry can happen as we join together in community, as a worship band, for five or six weeks (or even one or two if you are unable to go the whole summer) to build relationships with students, lead worship and be available to share the faith with the next generation. There are opportunities to serve this summer in ministry… and I’m inviting you apply and join me if you feel led.

harvest 15 outdoor lawrencevilleHere are the basics about serving with Harvest:

  • You must be at least 18 to serve on a team and a follower of Christ.
  • Apply to serve on a team – if you have questions about the summer before you go through the application, just give me a call.
  • Team members aren’t paid a dollar amount for the summer, but expenses are covered for the team members (lodging, meals, transportation once you get to Troy, IL).  It may sound strange, but for 250 people and for all of the twenty summers of Harvest, it has always been a mission.  In fact, team members are asked to raise some of the costs (if you travel for two weeks, we invite you to raise $150, if you travel for more than three weeks, we invite you to raise $300).  This is in part to invite family and friends to give toward your ministry through Harvest and “go with you” as you serve in the summer.
  • If you’re from the local region, you’re welcome to go back home when Harvest isn’t serving (typically, each week of Harvest flows into the next – but there are a few breaks).  If you are from out of the local region, we can arrange for you to be housed here through the church on the short breaks in the schedule (and if you’re interested, we will include in worship ministry around the host church during those times).  Over the years, team members have come from eight or nine different US states and Canada.
  • There is a need for drums, bass, vocals, keyboard, guitar and tech ministry roles for the team.
  • Ages and styles of the camps vary – from kids to high school students to all ages.

hmt15dPart of my privilege in ministry is the opportunity to align closely with a team of leaders for the summer and helping to open doors for people to get connected in true, servant leadership.  One of the best ways I know how to do this is to travel with a team – serving together, praying together, and learning together.  Over the years, many of the Harvest Team members have gone on to become local church leaders around Illinois and around the country.  I praise the Lord for these kingdom connections and this work!
