But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you. 1 Samuel 12:24
After an incredible 23rd summer of Harvest Ministry, I’m so thankful for the way God has worked through my life and the ministry. This summer was different because we had a different configuration of team members for the different weeks / events. We’re thankful for Rachael Miller who served as the Core Team Intern all summer, traveling to each event and helping to lead different aspects of the summer ministry. I’m thankful for the 26 team members who traveled to serve this summer.
Harvest has always been a grassroots endeavor – to share God’s love with kids and students through music and ministry. Even one week at camp can have massive impact on the life of a teen. And when you stack camp on top of camp for the summer months – singing, leading, playing games, sharing devotions, speaking, leading Bible studies, staying with campers in cabins, worship and praying – I’m in awe of what God can do through His people. I wouldn’t say Harvest is in the spotlight as most of us may think of the “spotlight”, but our prayer is that for these moments in the lives of the next generation, God’s power is spotlighted, hearts are changed and much fruit is born.
The 2018 Summer Chronicles:
Quest Camp Team: Rachael Miller, Ryan Kennett, Chris Trimble, Tim, Suzanne, Ruby & Macy Price
The first camp of the summer, at least for the last couple of years, has been Quest Camp at Lake Salleteeska. This kids and families camp from Troy UMC has been an awesome ways to kick off the season. So grateful to have Chris play drums for the event. Chris served on the summer team all last summer. Ryan Kennett joined us for bass. Ryan is from our church and he was attending the event with his family – great job on bass. For Rachael, this was her first event and she was learning some of the songs and motions on the fly – and did a great job. Also, thanks to Suzanne for helping with the computer lyrics and Ruby helping with the song motions. Macy was an official camper at Quest.
MMDC MISSION WEEKEND TEAM: Clint Benesh, Daniel Tatjenhorst, Rachael Miller, Tim Price
We were grateful to spend a weekend with the TUMC middle school students. The team served at the Midwest Distribution Center in Chatham, IL. During the weekend, Harvest led worship, games, devotions, and small groups with the students. Inviting kids this age to serve in meaningful ways – like through the Midwest Distribution Center – is a powerful way to help them put legs to their faith. A huge thanks to Clint, Dtat and Rachael for speaking and leading.
KIDS CONFERENCE TEAM: Clint Benesh, Rachael Miller, Chase Weber, Courtney Bettis, Tim, Suzanne, Ruby and Macy Price
For the first time ever, we hosted a summer, weekday kids conference! This event was in partnership with White House UMC in White House, TN with Francie Trostle. It was an incredible day of sharing God’s word with children from the church and community. A huge thanks to Francie for hosting. So glad to have Chase join us. He lives in the area and came over to play guitar. Chase have served on Harvest Teams over the years and recorded the latest Harvest album. Clint played bass, helped with sessions and skits and has been a big part of Harvest Conference ministry in general. Courtney played percussion, Rachael sang, Suzanne helped with the conference administration, hospitality, and computer lyrics, Ruby and Macy help operate the inflatable and helped with song motions. It was a fun trip – and we’re praying about and planning for the possibility of hosting more summer weekday kids conferences next year.
BEULAH BIBLE & BEGINNING CAMP TEAM: Zach Reynolds, Ryan Froidcoeur, Rachael Miller, Tim Price
Harvest has led worship for Beulah Bible and Beginner Camp for lots of years and it’s always an incredible week. Thanks to Debbie and Lindsay for inviting us to serve during the week. Thanks to Zach Reynolds for joining the team. Zach is a member of Matt Bryan’s church in Belle Rive, IL. Matt served on Harvest back in the mid 2000’s. Also thanks to Ryan for playing drums. Ryan has been a part of our church and was able to join the team for the week for the week of ministry. The week of Beulah Bible was really wet – rained almost every day. But God’s spirit showed up, kids were engaged and worshiped and it’s great to be a part of a camp that focuses so heavily on teaching kids God’s word! A special thanks to Tyler Roth and Ashley Randoll for helping with the sound and tech for the week!
One evening, while we were at Walmart, a storm became so bad, we had to go to the back storerooms. That was a first for Harvest! The storm passed and things were fine, but it was a memorable night – glad you were with us Tim and Becky Pate!
JUNIOR HIGH ALIVE: Rachael Miller, Tyler Lynn, Emily Lynn, Clint Benesh, Tim, Suzanne, Ruby and Macy Price
Jr. High Alive was a great week! Thanks to the Harvest Team who served. It was great to have Tyler and Emily Lynn to sing and play drums for the week. It was also good to have Clint to play and Rachael to help sing and lead. The devotions were great each evening. The group was energetic in worship and it was a joy to serve there. We also enjoyed being with other leaders from the area – Matt Bachman, Randy Azbell, Andrew Spainhour, Matt Henson, Jessie George and the rest of the leadership crew! It was also fun to have our home church middle school students at the camp! Thanks to Suzanne, Karen, Loren and Clint for serving as leaders for the group. We have enjoyed serving at JHA most years since it began in 2000. It’s a great week and we’re looking forward to next year!
SILVIS WEEK: Rachael Miller, Rebecca Stallard, Josh Stallard, Tim, Suzanne, Ruby and Macy Price
In Silvis, IL, we invested time each evening sharing music and messages with kids from the church, community and neighborhood. Some highlights included learning the Ten Commandments, singing and playing nine square. The meals provided by the church were awesome and our team loved being a part of the city park program during the day. We visited the zoo, played music, played games and had lunch with those kids. It was great to have Rebecca and Josh on the team for the week. Thanks to each team member for leading groups. Thanks to Ruby for playing bass and thanks to Joye and the church in Silvis for your ministry, hospitality and vision!

Epworth Fledgling Camp – Rachael Miller, Daniel Tatjenshorst, Ryan Froidceour, Suzanne, Ruby, and Macy Price
It was an amazing weekend at Fledgling Camp! Rachael and Ruby sang while Ryan F. and Dtat played box and guitar. Suzanne and Macy helped with the computer lyrics and sound. This is the first year, in a while, that Fledgling camp was it’s own separate weekend. Thanks to Lee and Ora Lee for their work in leading the weekend. It was great to serve, get to know the kids, and lead in worship with youngest campers!
Beulah Holiness Camp: Tim Price, Clint Benesh, Ava Andrews, Rachael Miller, Jordan Harper, Jessie George
Beulah was an incredible week of ministry! During this week, Harvest leads the youth ministry portion of the camp. The team serves as dorm sponsors, worship leaders, Bible Study leaders, mission coordinators and activity coordinators. We also led the pre-worship music in the tabernacle for several evenings of the week. Beulah is an awesome place and it was a ton of fun serving in ministry there. The missions included Habitat for Humanity, singing in a nursing home, working with the CCCC in Harrisburg, IL and cleaning up the bike trails for the city of Eldorado. Other highlights included the talent show, swimming, playing the longest game of nine square ever (3 hours and 45 minutes non stop) and having great snacks, games and devotions each evening. A huge thanks to others who joined in ministry there, including Jared Neaville, Ann Connor, and Andy and Rebecca Black. We’re praying for the students who attended and praise the the Lord for the awesome week.
Epworth Youth Week – Nate Brown, Daniel Tatjenhorst, Marshall Brown, Hannah Thorp, Leanne Willis, Jonathan Bremmer
So glad to meet Nate Brown through Dtat! He was the leader for the crew at Epworth. Thanks to each member of the team who served, to Matt for preaching, to Deborah and the camp leadership team. Epworth has a long history of great teaching, preaching and reaching students and I was so glad to have the group continue in leading. Also a special thanks to Leanne Roderick for serving during the week!
Epworth Generations Camp – Rachael Miller, Kim Stevens, Trenton Gonzales, Tim, Suzanne Ruby and Macy Price.
Epworth Generations Camp is a weekend family camp. We were glad to lead worship for the weekend. It was great to have Kim join us for the weekend and it was good to have Trenton play drums. Rachael sang, Suzanne helped with the tech stuff and we appreciated the invitation to serve from Gary and the rest of the leaders! Also thanks to Patty for the creative speaking during the weekend.
